A 1936 model NCO rural police shako helmet worn on regular duty by all police members.  Rural police helmets have a distinctive green color which is different than the "field green" wool cloth variety normally worn by other police units.  This particular example shows some slight age but overall is in fine condition for the price.  In most cases these helmets sell for in excess of $1200 making this example a bargain.  This helmet was purchased in 2001 from an estate sale in Indiana where it was located in an attic along with several medals, an M1940 pattern double decal combat police helmet, and a Luftwaffe EM side cap.
